David Jackson & Peter Cole – NUEL

Managing Director

Join the NUEL Managing Director and Head of Product as talk about working in the esports industry alongside what you should be doing to maximise your chances for getting hired. They’ll also share some work opportunities this year for you to apply for!

NUEL (formerly the National University Esports League) was founded in 2010 by Loughborough undergraduates and now hosts the largest UK and Ireland university tournaments with Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports; it supports hundreds of university society events across the country, and develops student talent who are now working throughout the esports industry. GGTech is a technology company with projects related to videogames, esports and education.

In the esports area, GGTech is one of the largest companies in the Spanish-speaking world and the largest in university competitions throughout Europe. NUEL and GGTech work together to deliver the Amazon UNIVERSITY Esports Masters European Series, a collaboration with, you guessed it, Amazon!

Joining NUEL full-time in 2019 following a career in publishing, David Jackson’s work has encompassed a range of functions including product management, marketing, business development and general management. Today, he is responsible for day-to-day management of the business, as well as planning and overseeing growth into new areas both in and outside of university esports.

Peter Cole is responsible for the delivery of NUEL’s range of activities, from competitive play in global tournaments to on-campus community activities. This role includes everything from the initial conceptualisation of events to deliver and after-action reporting.
