Dr Carol Adlam is a Nottingham-based author and illustrator specialising in sequential narrative art, particularly graphic novels, children’s books, and reportage illustration. She also writes scripts for graphic novels such as Thinking Room and Ministry of Women, audio adaptations and short stories.
In 2018 she won a World Illustration Award in the Research/Knowledge Communication category for her graphic novel/installation Thinking Room, and was shortlisted for the same award in 2015 and 2016.
In 2020 she was the writer-in-residence at the University of St Andrews, and she has been artist-in-residence at several museums and archives. Clients include The Guardian, The United Nations, The National Archives and many more.
She is a senior lecturer in Illustration at Nottingham Trent University, and in 2021-22 she will hold a Visiting Fellowship at Girton College, Cambridge.
