Piers Aggett – Rudimental

A once-in-a-lifetime chance to sit down with Piers Aggett and hear all about his experience working, producing and touring with Rudimental.

Piers Aggett, Amir Amor, Kesi Dryden and Locksmith are better known collectively as Rudimental the genre-crossing electronic four-piece from East London.

Rudimental have won a Brit Award for Best British Single, Album of the Year at the Mobo’s and have been nominated for the Mercury Prize. With 25 million singles and three million albums sales, five billion streams worldwide, two number one albums, and three number one singles, it’s safe to say they’ve dominated the music industry.

In 2012 Rudimental dropped their breakthrough hit Feel The Love on Black Butter Records. They soon joined Asylum/Atlantic Records and two UK number one albums and three number one singles followed, as Rudimental toured the world without pause for the last eight years. They have played shows in the US, South America, Africa and Australia, headlined the Other Stage at Glastonbury, sold out London’s O2 Arena and toured America with Ed Sheeran.

They have collaborated with some of the biggest names in music: Macklemore, Major Lazer, Ed Sheeran, Ladysmith Black Mambazo, Rita Ora, Emile Sande, Jess Glynne, Bobby Womack and even the legendary George Clinton. In a relatively short space of time, it became impossible to imagine a British music scene without the eclectic and dominating sounds of Rudimental.

The nurturing of new talent has always been something that all four members care about deeply, and this has become the focus of their record label and publishing company Major Toms. When they discovered the promising young singer Anne-Marie a few years ago, they decided they weren’t going to let the opportunity pass them by. They’ve since signed the British pop star Ella Henderson, and are developing bright young artists like Morgan Connie Smith. Rudimental have also given the likes of Will Heard, Jon Newman, Becky Hill, MNEK, Ella Eyre and Sinead Harnett the opportunity to be part of their live show over the years which was a pivotal moment in all of their careers.
