Sophia Thompson

Join the television producer for an exciting talk about her career as a producer, and hear about her experiences of working in the TV industry.


Sophia Thompson is a senior freelance television producer.

Having graduated from the University of East Anglia with a BA in American Studies, Sophia went on to gain an MA in Broadcast Journalism at City University in London. Her first break in TV came as a researcher working on 24 Hours in A & E, and her career working in observational documentaries started there. She has since gone on to work on shows including One Born Every Minute, My Big Fat American Gypsy Wedding, The Supervet, The One Show, Surgeons: At the edge of Life, Circus Kids: Our Secret World, A and E Live and Call the Cops.

In 2019 Sophia won a BAFTA for Best Children’s Factual for CBBC’s My Life – Mumbai Street Strikers. She is currently making a new drama for Channel 4 which is due to air in October.
