Game audio creates tension, adds emotion, and builds immersion in the game world. Three distinguished experts in this specialist area take time out of their busy schedules to talk videogames, audio and take questions.

About

Ross Tregenza

Ross has been a composer and sound designer in the games industry for over 20 years, having contributed to titles including The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Deathloop, Team Sonic Racing, Timesplitters 2&3, Crysis 1-3, Cyberpunk 2077, Homefront 2, Aliens V Predator, Star Citizen, Hotshot Racing, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, Gears of War and many more.

In terms of sound design, he specialises in advanced dialog systems, ambient sound, cinematics, and dynamic music systems – overall, it’s a passion for breathing cinematic life into games.

Musically, his work has been extremely diverse, with previous work for games including 70s prog rock, 80s pop, dark modern cinematic soundtrack and avant garde experimentation.

He was recently nominated for the VGA Award for best music, IGN Best Music and DICE Awards Best Music for his original music contributions to the game Deathloop.

Eugene Cherny

I’m an audio programmer working in game industry for about 4+ years across different platforms. Also have prior experience in academia and sound art.
