Creating Effective Sample Packs with Everyday Sounds

About

Originality is essential to standing out in music, and creating your own custom sample packs is a powerful way to define your unique sound. Olly will be hosting a workshop that explores the creative sampling of everyday sounds, guiding you through source recording, editing and manipulation, and finalising your samples.

Olly Shelton is a composer, sound designer, and producer of electronic, experimental, and ambient music. He began his studio career at Hans Zimmer’s Remote Control Productions and has worked as a session musician alongside artists such as Imogen Heap, Keane, Basement Jaxx, Kelly Lee Owens, and SAULT.
His experimental approach to composition and sound design ranges from delicate, sparse atmospheres to intense, distorted dance music (under his techno alias, SKU).
Recent placements include Traces (BBC, opening credits), WOLF (BBC), and Bosch, as well as production and additional music contributions for ITV’s Trigger Point and Payback, and the recent Netflix documentary Robbie Williams.
