Ed Lilo – Festival Repulic

How big UK festivals are booked and built

About

Ed Lilo has spent more than 12 years shaping what audiences hear and see at live music events across the UK. He is currently Lead Talent Buyer for Latitude Festival in Suffolk, a 45,000 capacity event produced by Festival Republic. In this role, he helps decide which artists appear on the line up, from global headliners to emerging acts finding their first big festival crowd.

Before stepping into large scale festival programming, Ed built his experience from the ground up. He opened venues in London and Brighton, promoted hundreds of gigs and tours, and worked across the independent and mainstream sides of the industry. He has programmed and location scouted for brands and broadcasters including Apple Music, VICE Media and BBC.

As Head of Events and Venues for VICE UK, he oversaw multiple venues and bars while programming over 100 events per month. Across his career he has supported undiscovered artists, run counter cultural events and worked with major brands to bring live music into new spaces.

Ed’s journey shows the range of roles behind live music, from booking underground shows to curating major festival stages. For students interested in events, promotion or artist development, his experience offers a clear look at how careers grow from grassroots scenes to national festivals.
