Jamie Macintosh

Creative AI leader in digital production

About

Jamie Macintosh works at the cutting edge of animation across video games, visual effects and AI driven production. With over eight years in the industry, he specialises in facial animation, bringing digital characters to life through performance, detail and technical precision.

He began his career as a junior animator at Cubic Motion in Manchester, developing skills across performance capture and in game animation. During his time there, he worked on major titles including Alan Wake 2 and Dead Island 2, contributing at multiple levels of production and leading on key projects. When Cubic Motion became part of Epic Games in 2020, Jamie continued to develop his expertise within a global studio environment.

In 2024, he moved into the visual effects and AI space, joining Metaphysic to explore new approaches to animation using AI tools. His work contributed to digital character development on Alien: Romulus. Following the company’s merger and evolution into the technology arm of DNEG, Jamie now co heads the animation team at Brahma as Animation Supervisor.

Today, his focus sits at the intersection of performance, technology and storytelling, developing new methods of animating for games, film and emerging media. His journey highlights how traditional animation skills are evolving alongside AI, and how artists can adapt to new tools while maintaining strong creative fundamentals.
