Rob Ellis

Musician & Producer

Musician or performer? This is your exclusive backstage pass into what it takes to become a Mercury Prize-winning producer.

About

Musician, composer, and record producer Rob made his mark on the music scene over 30 years ago as part of the original trio with Folk Rock singer PJ Harvey on his debut LP “Dry”. His collaboration with PJ Harvey extended throughout the ’90s and early 2000s. He co-produced the acclaimed PJ Harvey LP “Stories from the City, Stories from the Sea”, which clinched the prestigious Mercury Prize for Best Album in 2001.

Besides PJ Harvey, Rob’s extensive productions and collaborations include Anna Calvi, Bat for Lashes, Placebo, Scott Walker, Nick Cave, Brian Eno and Thom Yorke.

Rob’s recently branched into film soundtrack work, co-writing the music for the 2023 Netflix film “Hell Camp”, and currently working on a soundtrack for a new film documentary about rock icon Marianne Faithfull.

This session will help budding performers understand what it takes to be in the music business and how to use your skills to diversify and grow.
